DATASTREAM AND DOVEBID ANNOUNCE ALLIANCE FOR ONLINE B2B AUCTION CAPABILITIES AND CAPITAL ASSET MANAGEMENT

- Alliance follows Datastream investment in DoveBid -

GREENVILLE, S.C. and FOSTER CITY, CA (March 20, 2000) -- Datastream Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: DSTM), and DoveBid, Inc., a leading Webcast 24x7 online business-to-business (B2B) used capital asset auctioneer, today announced an alliance to integrate Datastream’s enterprise asset management applications with DoveBid’s online auction services. The alliance allows Datastream’s customers to buy and sell capital assets on DoveBid’s online auctions. The alliance follows a Datastream investment in DoveBid’s Series C financing round. Other investors participating in the financing are Softbank Capital Partners, Texas Pacific Group (TPG), Temasek Holdings, Yahoo! Inc., Sun Microsystems, Inc., Comdisco Inc., and repeat investors Fremont Ventures and Mayfield Fund.

According to the agreement, Datastream will provide a link to DoveBid’s online auction capabilities from the equipment and inventory modules of its core maintenance applications and through the iProcure™ network. With the click of a mouse, Datastream customers will be able to buy and sell capital assets through DoveBid’s online auctions.

The alliance also establishes joint marketing efforts between the two companies. Under terms of the agreement, Datastream will receive a percentage of DoveBid’s commission of auction revenues from Datastream software users. DoveBid will receive a percentage of Datastream software licensing and MRO procurement revenues originated by DoveBid referred customers. In addition, Datastream’s existing online auction capabilities will be upgraded to DoveBid’s auction site.

"Over 55,000 companies use Datastream products to maintain databases of their corporate-wide capital assets," said Jeff Crowe, president and COO of DoveBid. "Datastream’s customers manage large portfolios of assets. When assets move out of production DoveBid’s online asset auctions provide a straight-forward disposition channel."

"Datastream is continuing to create new and better Internet-based solutions for our customers, and the ability to work with a leading auctioneer for capital assets was very appealing," said Larry Blackwell, president and CEO of Datastream. "By collaborating with DoveBid, Datastream can focus more attention on growing the iProcure™ network and core maintenance applications while providing an auction service for equipment and supplies."
