"DoveBid Expands Client Roster" E-business capital asset auctioneer DoveBid today announced the expansion of its Webcast partner list, adding ten new affiliates and bringing the total up to seventeen. DoveBid provides Webcast and online auctions in 19 vertical markets including industrial equipment, manufacturing, biotech, and food and chemical process. DoveBid also offers transaction support services such as transportation and logistics, asset inspection services, MRO (maintenance, repair, and operations) procurement, and financing. The company will now offer those services to ten new affiliates in its Webcast Network, including biotech ventures BioMedicalInvest.com and BioExchange, manufacturing services sites Manufacturing.Net and NeptusGroup, and industrial equipment portal TheSurplusCenter.com. Existing partners include AssetsB2B, B2B Yahoo, and eMachineTool.com. DoveBid's latest announcement lengthens its recent string of successes. Last summer, the company snapped up several international auctioneers such as the Netherland's Fairfield Industries, Asia-Pacific's The Victor Morris Group and Masongreene Australasia, and Amsterdam's Van Beusekom. DoveBid announced in October that two of its Asian Webcast auctions reeled in $3.6 million in capital assets sales. John Fontanella, Service Director for B2B e-commerce at AMR Research, attributes DoveBid's success in part to a good business model. "DoveBid is not just a pure auction format," he says. "They also offer valuation services where reps can go out and determine the relative value of the piece of equipment you're buying." But Fontanella also notes that DoveBid's services are nothing too new. "Almost every industry -- petrochemicals, mining, etc. -- has traditionally had third parties acting as emissaries to do onsite inspections." He also adds that "just how credible DoveBid's valuation service is will demonstrate how successful they'll be in the future." |
