In the News "Yahoo Starts B2B Market Listing Service" By REUTERS New York -- Yahoo on Monday said it will launch a directory of the ever-increasing number of online marketplaces of business supplies, materials, and equipment. Santa Clara, Calif.-based Yahoo said the site, Yahoo B2B Marketplace, will feature more than 48,000 initial listings in over 650 categories. "Yahoo B2B Marketplace brings businesses of all kinds together by allowing business executives, small companies, and entrepreneurs to efficiently sift through many different Web sites, marketplaces, and buying formats on the Internet to quickly find and purchase products they need to run successful enterprises," said Tony Surtees, Yahoo vice president and general manager of the commerce group. Yahoo B2B Marketplace will use DoveBid as the featured sponsor and listing provider. The site will also offer research and comparable price information through features that let users search for the best deals at various business-to-business marketplaces. Users will be able to monitor offerings via a "My Watchlist" electronic mailing listing and calendar feature. In addition, the site will feature online business news specific to a user's industry and links to business and finance sites. Yahoo B2B Marketplace will include FreeMarkets' AssetExhange, an e-marketplace featuring industrial parts, raw materials, commodities, and services auctions; Imark.com, a B2B exchange offering services associated with buying and selling used equipment; and Tradeout.com, a business-to-business Internet marketplace featuring inventory from a range of industries, from consumer products to utilities. |
